How to save 2,30 € for a latte in Berlin
http://fffff.at/how-to-save-2-e-for-a-latte-in-berlin/
DISCLAIMER: Don’t do this at home …ähhh … at the city trains U-Bahn or S-Bahn. They check those quite often. The bus driver in the city might ask you for a ticket or yell at you but you can always try to just walk in. At Tegel nobody cares AT ALL …. enjoy the coffee places in Berlin! ( That’s all what we have ;-) See also James’ UK bus hack!

How to make your own MOMA artist pass
http://fffff.at/how-to-make-your-own-moma-artist-pass/
- Download your pass here.
- Print it on heavy paper, both sides.
- Insert your name with a pen.
- Visit MOMA a whole year for free! You are only eligible to obtain a 1-year MOMA artist pass (25,-$) (regular entrance fee 20,- $ !!!) if you can proof that you had ‘OFF-LINE’ !!! art shows. Can you believe that? Online art doesn’t count in?!? We need to change that.
The making of the Free MOMA pass:
Let’s scan this!
It seems I am artist number 7156 which got an artist pass. (This year? Since the system was implemented? Doesn t matter in fact.) The entrance guard will just scan the code and read out if the pass is valid. Code format is CODE_39. Ok nice!
Let’s scan the whole thing in high res!
We better generate thas magic code A000000000007156 again at Online Barcode Generator for better print quality. :-) You might wanna also just become the artist pass owner 7155 in case they kick Aram Bartholl out of the DB for some reason. ;-)
Done! I recommend the Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures show on 5th floor. Awesome! Let’s meet for a make out flashmob in that ‘exhibtion’ cinema ;-) [You might also just go to Free Friday Nights, held every Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m :-)] PS: See also James’ http://fffff.at/how-to-sneak-into-the-venice-guggenheim/ :-)

15 Pieces of Papers Under Creative Commons License (Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike)
Naoyoshi Hikosaka, contemporary artist, decided to put together a show called the Free Art Exhibition so I decided to participate. The exhibiting art works must be free to give away. It wasn’t easy to think of free art using the old technology which can not be digitally copied. As a proud member of Tokyo F.A.T., I wanted to create something symbolic!
So here is what I did. First I designed a symbol with CC license marks and its meta data (see SVG data here), pressed it on 15 real bills, and of course signed my name on each of them. In a way, copy-lefted the bills. I own the author’s copyright of the bills and at the same time they are completely free!
I completed the work by lightly gluing the bills on a canvas. Anybody can take it and leave. I also exhibited the stamp it self so that anybody can stamp it on his money or on himself. If you want to make your own money in your own country, the idea is for free. The Exhibition is until the 22th of August.

2009: Year of the F.A.T.
http://fffff.at/2009-year-of-the-f-a-t/
2009: Year of the FAT from james powderly on Vimeo. In February 2010, the most renowned curators and critics in the world nominated the best 100 designs of the previous year for the Design Museum London’s Design of the Year Show. Amongst the fancy chairs, fabric sports cars and dresses for chubbers, 3 projects by FAT fellows were nominated in the category of Interactive Art: openFrameworks, Graffiti Taxonomy, and the EyeWriter. 100 designs were honored… but only one can win… probably gonna be that dead fashion designer… So, like Babe Ruth, I’m calling my shot: The FAT Lab is gonna win the Interactive Art Category. Im so certain of it, that i am making a challenge to Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon. If the F.A.T Lab wins, I will wear a red toupee for 3 months. If Amazon’s Kindle 2 wins, Bezos will have to wear the rug for a mere 30 days. If neither of us wins, we both do. C’mon Bezos, you know my number… let’s do dis! Usman, Eno, Jason, you want a piece of this action? In the words of another notorious loser, “Bring it on!” If you’re in London (i feel sorry for you…), head down to the Museum to check out the show and tune-in to the Culture Show on BBC2 London on March 4th at 19:00 GMT for the results and may the best looking head win! And Tivo that shit, cuz I aint got a TV. Congrats to Zach, Theo, Chris, Evan, Mick, Tony and the rest of the FAT crew for a great year. LYLAS!

SelfControl
http://visitsteve.com/work/selfcontrol/
Is email a distraction? SelfControl is an OS X application which blocks access to incoming and/or outgoing mail servers and websites for a predetermined period of time. For example, you could block access to your email, facebook, and twitter for 90 minutes, but still have access to the rest of the web. Once started, it can not be undone by the application or by restarting the computer – you must wait for the timer to run out.
Created while at Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology. Free Software under the GPL. Sourcecode on Github, and ticket system on the eyebeam dev site. Feel free to make improvements, linux ports, etc. Thanks to Charlie Stigler for developing the application.
Related software you might enjoy:
Freedom - block all internet access for set periods of time. by Fred Stutzman Spirited Away - automatically hides windows you’re not using anymore. by Drikin Oh, and Add-Art - a web browser plugin that replaces advertising with art. (I worked on this too)Download SelfControl SelfControl 1.1 - Tiger 10.4 and Leopard 10.5 compatible The wiz, Charlie Stigler, just built a 1.1 version with 10.4 compatibility, automatic updates, port-wide block capability (aka better facebook blocking) and some bug fixes. Feel free to make your own contributions to the code as well.
Oh hi! You’re still here. Great! So you probably came from digg or wired or something, thanks. And with thousands of you showing up on my site I thought I’d mention:
I am an artist and have a solo show at Charles James Gallery in Los Angeles that opens April 25th.
I also have made a browser plugin that replaces all the ads on the internet with art, a NY Times anouncing a utopia in the near future, a video game where you have to compete to relax, and lots of other things you might want to see. Thanks for looking.
